Health and Safety Training

Health and Safety in the Workplace CIEH Level 2 Award
This qualification is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public.
Who needs this qualification?
Anyone in a work environment.
Why is this training important?
Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Employees need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health and safety.
Learning outcomes

Principles of COSHH CIEH Level 2 Award
This qualification complements the Health and Safety in the Workplace CIEH Level 2 Award by introducing candidates to the risks in substances and the controls available.
Who needs this qualification?
Designed for those responsible for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) at work, as well as employees who use hazardous substances in manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and offices.
Why is this training important?
This qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in cooperation with their managers and supervisors.

Identify the hazards associated with those substances

Identify the risks and controls available to deal with the substances

Identify what to expect from a COSHH assessment.
Fire Safety Principles CIEH Level 2 Award
This qualification provides employees with the knowledge to help them to carry out designated duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures in the workplace, for example as fire wardens or fire marshals.
Who needs this qualification?
Employees who hope to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking specific fire safety roles in the workplace (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.).
Why is this training important?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) requires the responsible person to appoint and provide adequate training for one or more ‘competent persons’ to assist with fire safety in the workplace.

Understand the role of the nominated fire warden.
Food Safety CIEH Level 2
This qualification* has been designed to address the food safety needs of the catering, manufacturing and retail sectors.
Who needs this qualification?
Anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled.
Why is this training important?
Everyone who works with food has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensure that the food they serve or sell is perfectly safe to eat.
Learning outcomes

Firm grasp of the importance of food safety and knowledge of the systems, techniques and procedures involved

Understanding of how to control food safety risks (personal hygiene, food storage, cooking and handling)

Confidence and expertise to safely deliver quality food to customers.
*Refreshment of this qualification is recommended at least every three years.
The following details are relevant to each course:
Duration: One day with the exception of the COSHH which is a half day course.
Cost: £95 per person with the exception of the COSHH which is £65 per person.
Assessment Method: Multiple choice examination.
Date: Dates will be agreed once a minimum number of 8 delegates have expressed an interest.
Location: Delivered at the College. Alternatively, the workshop could be held at your premises if you have a group of staff who would benefit from this training.
